Can someone please tell me why I am not able to view listings put in by Oahu agents even though the listings are in my neighborhood? Even if I have the MLS # I cannot view the listing. For example MLS 2017XXXXX – I am not able to pull this up. I have noticed this several times, this seems really unfair since I pay the same MLS fees for all of Hawaii, yet I am not able to pull up all of Hawaii. When someone calls me about a listing that is by an Oahu agent I cannot answer any questions for them even though the property itself is on the Big Island… and in my town.

Answer:

If the listing agent is not a member of Hawaii Information Service, we do not have their listing in our system.

The Oahu agent did not enter the listing into the HIS system as indicated by the formatting of the MLS number.

There are three MLS systems in Hawaii:
Honolulu (HiCentral)
Maui (RAM)
Hawaii Island/Kauai (HIS)

Each system manages their own listings.
